Urgent Care centers: A convenient option for patients

Urgent Care centers offer another care option for patients instead of going to an emergency room for common urgent health issues. As you know, the emergency room is the best place for critical medical conditions and trauma, but many common urgent health issues can be addressed more promptly and cost effectively at urgent care centers.

These centers usually have walk-in visits, later hours and offer a range of medical services. When you can’t see patients yourself, we encourage you to refer our members to urgent care locations, when appropriate, for minor injuries, fever or flu-like symptoms, sprains and strains, coughs, colds and sore throats, ear infections and rashes or other skin irritations.

On March 23rd, 2016, Reliant Medical Group moved its Adult and Pediatric Urgent Care services from 630 Plantation Street, Worcester to 366 Shrewsbury Street, Worcester. These services are located inside their new ReadyMED Plus which is open 7 days a week from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Along with walk-in care, the site will offer X-ray, lab and CT scan services. Like most Urgent Care centers, ReadyMED Plus provides prompt communication back to the patient’s PCP or referring physician about the care they receive. Visit readymed.org for more information.

Other Urgent Care centers that are available to Fallon Health members can be found on our “Need Care Now” webpage.
