Fallon Health now accepting applications for community grant program
Worcester, Mass., June 6, 2016 ― Fallon Health will award more than $100,000 through its Community Benefits Grant program to support innovative, community-based programs aimed at one or more of the following priorities:
- Providing health and social services for seniors
- Promoting opportunities for at-risk/proven risk youth and young adults between the ages of 12 to 21 with a specific emphasis on youth preparing to age-out of the system and lose services
- Providing services to support individuals with behavioral and/or mental health issues with a specific emphasis on addressing the needs of the most vulnerable groups by their ethnicity, age, demographics and risk-factors
These priorities have been updated since 2015 to reflect community needs and align with community health indicators.
Fallon’s online application process begins with a Letter of Intent (LOI). Organizations meeting the criteria are encouraged to submit an online Letter of Intent by June 30, 2016. The Community Benefits Committee will review the LOIs and invite a selected number of organizations back to submit full applications in September 2016.
“Our goal is to better understand our members, their health and what it means to have a healthy community. We listen to the community and constantly evolve our grant process so that we fund areas that will have the most impact,” said Kimberly Salmon, Director of Community Relations at Fallon Health. “We look through every lens to find barriers, such as unsafe neighborhoods or lack of transportation, so that we can be active partners in finding solutions that improve the health and well-being of those we serve.”
Last year, Fallon received 213 LOLs and invited 21 organizations back to submit full grant applications. Nine organizations received grants over $100,000. Average grant size remains in the range of $10,000 and $25,000.
Grants will be awarded to new programs or the expansion of existing programs that serve the targeted populations across our entire service area throughout Massachusetts with a particular focus on the following counties: Barnstable, Berkshire, Bristol, Essex, Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth and Worcester.
“Being an engaged corporate citizen is very important to Fallon and its many caring employees. We’re honored to once again offer the opportunity to partner with organizations working tirelessly to make our community a better place to live,” said Christine Cassidy, Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer at Fallon Health.
