Fallon Community Health Plan appoints James R. Buonomo to board of directors

FCHP is again ranked the number one Medicaid health plan in America.

Worcester, Mass., October 23, 2013―Fallon Community Health Plan (FCHP), a nationally recognized, not-for-profit health care services organization, today announced the appointment of James R. Buonomo to its board of directors.

For over 34 years, James Buonomo held leadership roles at Nypro, Inc., a $1.2 billion global solutions provider of manufactured precision plastic products in Clinton, Mass. serving as Chief Financial Officer & Chief Strategy Officer from 2006 – 2012. In this role, Buonomo led all financial aspects of the company and worked to ensure the ethics, integrity and long-term financial stability of Nypro. He also served as the company’s primary strategic advisor to the CEO.

An industry leader in finance, general management and marketing/sales, Buonomo developed Nypro’s business in China and India and served as a “culture conduit” for the company around the globe. Under his leadership, the company’s business in China grew from $2 million and 150 employees to over $500 million in revenue and 10,000 employees, becoming the most profitable business in the Nypro company. In addition, Buonomo created, developed and managed several joint ventures and strategic alliances for Nypro.

Buonomo, an experienced board chair, member and senior executive, continues to deliver financial and governance expertise to not only Fallon Community Health Plan’s board of directors, but to the University of Massachusetts Board of Trustees where he serves on the Audit and Finance Committees. He is also a member of the Massachusetts Accelerator for Bio-Manufacturing Board and an advisor to Odyssey Investment Partners, a private equity firm.

Buonomo has earned both a Bachelor of Science in political science and education and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.

A resident of Shrewsbury, Buonomo is an active philanthropist with a special interest in volunteering and providing financial support to academic and youth services.
