Green berry smoothie
Posted on June 4, 2013
In case you missed it at the first ZipTrips in Dedham on May 24, this tasty and healthy treat was being made in our own Blender Bike. Here's the recipe:
- 1 cup assorted frozen berries (strawberries, blackberries, raspberries)
- 1 peeled ripe banana
- 1/2 cup almond milk (can substitute for coconut milk, rice milk or dairy milk, but that will alter the nutritional information listed)
- 1 tablespoon creamy almond butter
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup kale, loosely packed (stemmed)
Blend at a high speed until smooth. (Bike not required!)
Yes, one cup of kale. But, according to our taste-testers, you won't even taste it. The fruit and almond milk, plus the almond butter, create an amazing, nutritious smoothie!
When I ran the recipe through SparkPeople's recipe calculator, the whole smoothie has 325 calories, 6 grams of protein, 11 grams of fat and 16 grams of fiber! Share it with a friend to cut calories and still get a healthy snack.
