With spring right around the corner, asthma and allergy-producing agents will soon be upon us. If you suffer from asthma and know your personal triggers, you’ll be able to minimize your symptoms. Here are some tips to reduce asthma triggers:

  • Keep a cool, dry living space. Dust mites and mold aren’t usually found in cool, dry areas.
  • Steam clean floors, rugs and furniture made from fabric. Steam cleaning is best for getting rid of dust mites.
  • Change air filters regularly.
  • Limit time spent around animals with dander. Wipe pets down when they come in from outdoors.
  • Do yard work or gardening early in the morning or later in the afternoon when pollen counts are low. Pollen counts are higher during sunrise and sunset.
